A Kent town erupted in a flurry of colour and tribal drums today in celebration of its annual Charivari Day under the flaring sun.
Organised by arts group Strange Cargo, hundreds of costumed school children and community groups took to Folkestone's streets adorned in ribbons and glitter.
With this year's theme marking 60 years of Rock and Roll, thousands of onlookers saw some 600 people parade through the town waving huge models of their favourite musicians.
Energised by drumming and salsa music by Batala Portsmouth, Raw Samba and Samba Pelo Mar, the parade left The Stade and snaked towards the Leas for live and music and DJs.
Speaking before the event a Strange Cargo spokesman said: "Thanks goes to funders including Arts Council England, Creative Foundation, Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, Shepway District Council, Folkestone Town Council, Cllr Ann Berry, Cllr David Monk and Cllr Mary Lawes.
