A man has been fined after being caught fly-tipping on five separate occasions within just over a month.
Darren Timmins had to pay more than £600 for dumping waste in Hawkinge after a resident caught him in the act on CCTV.
Timmins repeatedly dumped household waste, furniture and general rubbish in Benson Lane between December 2019 and January 2020.
However, he didn't realise the land was covered by CCTV owned by a nearby resident.
The quick-thinking resident sent footage of all five incidents to Folkestone and Hythe District Council (FHDC), which brought the case to Folkestone Magistrates' Court.
Timmins, of Harbour Way, Folkestone, pleaded guilty to five charges of fly-tipping on January 25.
He was fined £400 and ordered to pay £180 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
"Fly-tipping doesn't pay, it's as simple as that"
Cllr Stuart Peall, FHDC cabinet member for enforcement, regulatory services, waste and building control, said: "Fly-tipping doesn't pay, it's as simple as that.
"Mr Timmins faces a bill of over £600 just because he did not dispose of his waste responsibly. This sends out a clear message that we won't accept such behaviour.
"My thanks goes to the resident who told us about the incidents and provided the evidence which was crucial in securing this prosecution.
"Information shared by residents is so important in helping us win the war against fly-tipping."
