A 54-year-old man is to appear before a court next week following the discovery of a mortar bomb at the Channel Tunnel.

Stephen Hart, of Frant Court, Tunbridge Wells, is charged with possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

He was released on police bail to appear er before Folkestone magistrates on Thursday, February 10.

His arrest comes after the Channel Tunnel was closed and the Folkestone terminal evacuated following the discovery on Friday.

He was travelling alone in his vehicle, bound for France.
