A man has been shortlisted for the national Shed of the Year competition after he overhauled his with fresh paint and up-cycled bedroom furniture.
Adam Krzempek, from Folkestone, turned his plain shed into a clock tower during lockdown after he was furloughed from his job at the Ashford Designer Outlet.
He said: "The shed was here when we bought the house but it was just an ordinary brown, sad looking shed.
"I have painted it in uplifting, Mediterranean colours and I have applied some self adhesive stained glass vinyls so it's impossible to see what's inside - it can be messy sometimes.
"Last year during the first lockdown I was on furlough with plenty of time on my hands and I decided to make a clock tower to sit on the top of the roof.
"The tower is made from two old bedside cabinets.
"Since then I have heard couple of compliments from my neighbours and visitors regarding the clock tower.
"Just a few days ago I decided to also paint the felt roof with raspberry pink colour.
"It is a very happy shed, my own Hotel de Ville."
Mr Krzempek, 45, was inspired to take part in the competition after posting a photo of his shed on Instagram.
An organiser from the contest saw the post, and commented that he should consider entering.
Mr Krzempek added: "I thought about his comment and decided to enter. I am quite proud of my shed and garden. I am quite creative.
"There are some amazing sheds in the competition."
Mr Krzempek, originally from Poland, moved to the UK 16 years ago. He moved to Folkestone eight years ago with husband Piotr, after falling in love with the town and its coastline.
His clock tower shed, which is used for storing garden tools, bikes and firewood, is nominated in the budget category against two others.
A winner from each category then goes to the next round, and an overall winner is chosen.
Voting is open until July 12. Visit readersheds.co.uk.
