A cheque for more than £2,000 was raised by a sponsored walk held in tribute to a South Kent College student.
More than 40 people wearing pink covered seven miles to honour the life of Gemma Croft, of Yew Tree Close, Stanford North, who died in a car crash aged 17.
The big cheque was presented to principal of SKC Monica Box by Gemma’s best friend Natalie Rogers and fellow hair and beauty student. The sponsored walk, which took place on what would have been Gemma’s 21st birthday, was Natalie’s idea.
Among the sponsors was Gemma’s uncle Ian who succeded in raising more than £600 himself.
The Gemma Croft Memorial Fund is dedicated to raising money for disadvantaged students.
In December Gemma’s mother Jo Manning will be making an informal visit to the college to see how well the funds have helped.
