A couple were seen kissing and holding hands after killing a man they called "dad".
Paul Wakefield, 66, died at his flat in Coolinge Lane, Folkestone in January.
Now 31-year-old Shane Myles, of Rock Avenue, Gillingham, and 36-year-old Kayleigh Halliday, from Crown Road, Sittingbourne, have admitted manslaughter.
But both are still on trial at Maidstone Crown Court accused of Mr Wakefield's murder.
Prosecutor Simon Taylor QC told the jury: "Both defendants accept killing Mr Wakefield unlawfully... but the Crown say this was murder.
"Mr Wakefield was beaten to death and it was a savage beating."
He said when they were arrested they blamed each other.
Myles claimed Halliday beat Mr Wakefield over the head with a bottle after punching him before stabbing him with the broken bottle.
But Mr Taylor said the accounts given to police were untruthful, "the last refuge of murderers" and CCTV showed them kissing each other after the attack.
"Photographs show them holding hands and arm in arm at Folkestone rail station. Another image shows him caressing Halliday and the two also kissed on the train," he said.
Mr Taylor said later Halliday posed for a romantic image on Snapchat shortly before they were arrested.
The trial continues.
