Traffic held on A20 at Roundhill Tunnel, Folkestone and Capel-le-Ferne, with other incidents in Gillingham, Canterbury and Ashford

Traffic has been held on a major route as a number of delays are reported around the county.

There are queues today (Wednesday) on the A20 between the Roundhill Tunnel outside Folkestone and the junction for Capel-le-Ferne.

One of those stuck told KentOnline: “I can only see two sets of yellow lights up ahead but traffic has been completely held up and at a standstill.“

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 3.05pm to a report that a car had left the carriageway on the A20 near Church Hougham. Patrols and paramedics attended the scene where no injuries were reported and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.”

Elsewhere in the county, the A2050 New Dover Road in Canterbury is closed in both directions due to an accident involving two vehicles.

An earlier accident on M2 coastbound just before Junction 4 for the A278 Hoath Way in Gillingham that was causing delays has now been cleared.

There were also delays on the M20 due to an accident on the coastbound carriageway at Junction 10 for Ashford.

A police spokesperson explained: “Kent Police was called at 3.37pm to a report that a car had struck the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway of the M20, between junctions 10 and 11.” Patrols and highways officers attended the scene, there were no reported injuries and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.
