Tougher laws on owning dogs like staffordshire bull terriers are being called for by the father of a Kent girl who was viciously attacked by one.
Six -year -old Chloe Ashman from Folkestone was left with half of her throat open and had to have three life-saving operations after being set upon by her mother’s boyfriend’s dog in her back garden.
She may never be able to speak again.
Her father Lee Ashman said: "You should have to have a licence to keep a dog like that."
Mr Ashman has also spoken of his shock at seeing his daughter in hospital for the first time after the incident. He added: "I was lost for words. It is going to be a long road to recovery for her."
