Cannabis factory in Folkestone uncovered by police

Police have discovered and shut down a drugs factory in Folkestone.

Around 40 plants were seized during a raid at an industrial unit in the Shorncliffe area on Wednesday afternoon.

No arrests have been made but officers say they are continuing their inquiries to track down those responsible.

Growing equipment was also found and has been dismantled as part of the sting.

Officers from the Shepway Community Policing Team carried out a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Residents have been asked to report suspicious activities to police.

Sgt Jason Atkinson said: "We ask residents to remain vigilant to signs of potential drug use in their communities and report anything suspicious to police via 101."
