Only six KFC restaurants in Kent remain open this evening following its deliveries nightmare.

The fast food giant has been struck nationwide by running out if its essentials - chicken.

The company published a list its stores still open as of 5.48pm throughout the British Isles.

The only branches in Kent included were at Cheriton Road in Folkestone, Westwood Road in Broadstairs, at Strood Retail Park, Dowding Way, Tunbridge Wells, at The Wintergarden in Bluewater, and another in Sittingbourne.

The company put out a tweet explaining the problem causing closures while supplies are low.

It is titled: "The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants..."

It said it had a new delivery partner who have had a "couple of teething problems."
It added: "Getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!

"We won't compromise on quality so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours."

KFC has branches all over Kent, including High Street and Eureka Park in Ashford, Market Square and Whitfield in Dover district and Canterbury Street in Gillingham.

The worldwide restaurant chain was called Kentucky Fried Chicken until 1991 and still uses the image of its founder, Colonel Sanders in America, as its corporate logo.
