Armed police arrested a man after reports of a suspect carrying a weapon in a town centre this evening.

Kent Police say they were called at 6.01pm today following report of a person seen in possession of what appeared to be a weapon in Bouverie Road West, Folkestone.

Patrols and firearms officers attended and a man was arrested and taken into custody.

A spokesman for the force said a BB gun had been located and seized as part of the operation.
