The first two restaurants set to open at a new harbourside development have been announced.
Portenio and Sailbox are two of six businesses planned to join the latest expansion of Folkestone Harbour Arm in restaurants created from upcycled shipping containers.
Both independent ventures, which hope to open at the development called Harbourside in the summer, are owned by traders who are already familiar with the popular tourist spot.
Paula Cambra is behind Portenio, an Argentine-inspired wood fire grill and steak restaurant.
The name means "people from the port or harbour" and will be an expansion of her streetfood trailer Minutas Al Paso which she has run on the Arm since October 2021.
The menu will feature many traditional Argentine dishes including Picadas, Empanadas, Morcillas, Humitas, and Milanesas as well as a vast wine list from the region.
The second venue set to open this summer will be Sailbox, an expansion of the Harbour Coffee Company.
Right next door to the coffee shop, Sailbox will allow the company to upscale its operations.
Mark Babins, who also operates Sole Kitchen and The Fish Shack, is behind the project and hopes to create a "brunch and beyond" focussed menu that also features seaside and pub classics.
Both businesses will be nestled onto the Eastern side of the site along the quayside edge.
They will boast uninterrupted views across the English Channel with glimpses of France on the horizon.
It is not known what will fill the other four new restaurants planned for the seaside spot, which attracted two million visitors last year alone.
The ambitious plans for the new restaurants were revealed last year, with computer-generated images showing blue shipping containers with outdoor seating.
But Portenio and Sailbox will join a host of other venues and vendors already established there.
The Harbour Arm is owned and managed by Folkestone Harbour and Seafront Development Company (FHSDC), which has spent millions of pounds renovating it since 2015.
The company previously described this new six-restaurant project as the most 'significant investment' at the site since it was first reopened.
It is now home to several unique spaces - including The Goods Yard, which hosts a range of food and drink kiosks and has seating geared towards a huge outdoor screen, as well as Beachside, which includes the Pilot Bar and Little Rock seafood restaurant.
With neighbour Harbour Station, the arm also includes mini golf, shops, a lighthouse champagne bar and a vintage market.
