Girl taken to hospital after being hit by car in Tram Road, Folkestone

A girl taken to hospital suffering with head injuries after being hit by a car in Folkestone this morning is said to be back at home recovering.

It is believed the girl, aged 15, was walking to school when she was involved in a collision with the vehicle on Tram Road at the junction with Warren Road.

Two nurses who passed the incident helped police and ambulance crews after the incident at 7.50am.

The girl was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital but returned home this afternoon according to reports on social media.

Three ambulance vehicles including two cars and one ambulance were called to treat the girl at the scene.

Secamb spokesman Rich Airey earlier said: "It was reported as being a car and a pedestrian. Injuries were to a teenage girl approximately 15-years-old.

"There were two nurses at the scene but we arrived within a minute or two.

"We thank them for their help.

"She suffered suspected head injuries and was taken by road to the William Harvey Hospital but we don't know how severe. She's gone to be checked over."

She also sustained injuries to her arm and hand.

The air ambulance also landed in a park near Dover Road.

The road reopened at 8.40am.
