Gurkhas based in Folkestone paid their respects to fallen comrades during an Armistice Day service.

Officers and soldiers from 2 Royal Gurkha Rifles (2RGR) took part in the ceremony at the base at Shorncliffe Barracks.

Wreaths were laid and a two-minute silence observed as they remembered those who have given their lives in the service of Britain.

They were joined by personnel based at the Risborough Barracks to mark the event.

The wreaths were laid at the memorial by 2RGR's commanding officer Lt Col Jamie Murray and Gurkha Major, Maj Prem Gurung.

A bugler played the Last Post before the silence was held at 11am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the exact moment the guns fell silent on the battlefields of the Western Front marking the end of the First World War.

Armistice Day remembers all those who have lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars and every conflict since.
