A consultation has been launched to gauge the public's views on divisive plans for a coastal beauty spot.
The proposed redevelopment of sports and leisure facilities on the East Cliff in Folkestone could see the creation of a Roman-themed playground, an adventure-golf course and a cafe with sea views.
However, people living nearby have reacted angrily to the scheme - fearing the loss of open, green space currently enjoyed by walkers and dog owners.
A survey has been launched this week, with Folkestone and Hythe District Council (FHDC) particularly encouraging those living in Harbour ward and users of the existing sports facilities to take part.
The survey is available online or in a printed format and the results will help shape future investment in the area, which is owned by the Folkestone Parks and Pleasure Grounds Charity whose trustees are council cabinet members.
Cllr John Collier said: "The play area is in urgent need of updating as it currently offers very little for the children and young people living nearby.
"It is important that as a charity we have the views from parents and carers.
"We also want to hear from those who enjoy using the tennis courts, pitch and putt, and bowling green, as there is also work to do to update these facilities.
"I cannot encourage people strongly enough to take just ten minutes to fill in the survey.
"This is your chance to shape what action could be taken by the Folkestone Parks and Pleasure Grounds Charity to source the necessary funding for the improvements. As a charity we must remain self-funding."
Opposition to the redevelopment of the site has been coordinated by members of Keep the East Cliff Green (KECG), with protestors joining a day of action against development of open spaces across the county.
KECG member Janine Gray said: "From this week Folkestone and Hythe District Council is going to ask you what you want at the beautiful space known as Jock's Pitch.
"We welcome the fact that there are paper copies as well as the option to complete the questionnaire online, however myself and a number of members of the group are sad to see that many of the questions are still ambiguous or leading and that the destination play park, cafe and large parking area seems to be very much on the agenda still.
"Membership of the Facebook group has almost doubled since we got confirmation of the consultation launch date.
"We feel it's our purpose now to make sure that people filling in the form are clear about all the issues surrounding significant changes to the area, and don't inadvertently support something that will not be in the best interests of local people."
The survey will be running until the end of August and can be completed by visiting folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/eastcliffsurvey.
