Air ambulance, coastguard and police called to casualty near cliffs in Capel-le-Ferne, near Folkestone

A person has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after falling from a cliff.

The coastguard, police, paramedics and fire service were called to reports of a casualty near Capel-le-Ferne and The Warren in Folkestone at about 12pm.

The person was located and winched to the clifftop for handover to the air ambulance, who took them to a London hospital.

A spokeswoman for the air ambulance said: “We were called at about 12:03 today to reports a person had fallen from a height near Bay Road, Folkestone.

‘Crews assessed and treated the patient at the scene before being joined by the air ambulance crew, who airlifted the patient to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical treatment.”

A spokesman for HM Coastguard added: “At around midday today, HM Coastguard received reports of a casualty near to cliffs at Capel-le-Ferne in Folkestone, Kent.

“Coastguard Rescue Teams from Deal, Folkestone and Langdon Battery were called, along with an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.

“The casualty was located and winched to the cliff top for handover to the air ambulance and onwards travel to hospital.

“Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance.”

A police spokesman confirmed officers assisted with a medical incident.
