A homeless drug addict with 104 previous convictions has been jailed for six years for four robberies and three thefts in Folkestone.
They took place at various shops in the town, including Sainsbury's, Iceland, TK Max, and Lidl, during January and February.
In some of then Kevin Moss, 29, produced a knife, screwdriver, and scissors when he was challenged by store staff, Canterbury Crown Court was told.
He admitted the charges and John FitzGerald, defending, said his client had a shocking record but he hadn’t caused serious harm to anyone else.
"It is low level offending, linked to a chaotic lifestyle which comes from drug addiction," he said.
"He is not inherently violent."
Mr FitzGerald said Moss stole to fund his habit and only when challenged did he move to the next level and produce a weapon.
"He has decided to move on and cut his ties with Dover and Folkestone," he said.
"He has reduced his drug dependency while in jail and there is a genuine reason to believe his offending cycle is behind him."
The lawyer said Moss had undertaken drug and thinking courses while in jail.
Christiaan Moll, prosecuting, said the most serious of the offences was when Moss went into Iceland in Folkestone, took meat and when challenged by staff produced a knife and tried to jab one of them with it before leaving and riding off on a black mountain bike.
