An inquest has today been opened and adjourned into the tragic death of Luhana Barros, who fell from the Asda multi-storey in Folkestone.

Miss Barros, whose full name is Luhana Rafaela do Espirito Santo Rocha, fell from height off the building at Bouverie Place shopping centre at about 4.45pm on Sunday.

Today the coroner's court at Archbishop's Palace, Maidstone, heard that a full inquest will resume in September.

The 16-year-old girl, of Coolinge Road, Folkestone, was due to leave Brockhill Park Performing Arts College after doing her GCSEs this summer.

Dozens of floral tributes, heartfelt notes and pictures, were laid against the shopping mall, in Middelburg Square, by Monday and informal memorial services were held there and at Radnor Park.

A JustGiving page has been set up to try and raise money for a memorial bench and garden.

It does not detail where the garden or the bench will be set up.

It asks for donations in excess of £1,500 - with more than £600 raised in two days.

Junior Rocha, Luna’s relative, said: “On behalf of my family I would like to say thank you very much for everyone on Folkestone for their kindness.

“We are very touched. All you are doing is lovely. Many thanks.”

A statement on the page said: “Many of her friends and family wish to create a beautiful memorial garden and place a beautiful bench marked with a plaque for this angel.

“But we can’t do it out of one pocket so we need your help.”
