Two Iranian immigrants trying to break into Britain have been arrested in Folkestone.

The pair walked through the Channel Tunnel after evading police in France on Saturday morning but were arrested by police when they arrived in Kent.

They braved the 31 mile route through the tunnel with high speed trains racing past in a bid to reach the UK.

Both men, aged 20 and 25, have now been charged with obstructing an engine using the railway and have been remanded in custody.

According to reports the men appeared at Medway Magistrates Court on Monday.

More than 100 migrants stormed the Calais terminal breaking through fences and onto the tracks on Saturday.

Services were disrupted by the "massive invasion" which was said to be carried out by what appeared to be a "large and co-ordinated" group.

A total of 13 migrants have died trying to reach Britain since June. An Eritrean man died last Wednesday after being hit by a train near the tunnel entrance in Calais.

Further reports suggest problems at Calais docks in recent days with a group of Syrians attempting to swim and climb on board a ferry bound for Dover.
