Folkestone & Hythe council election results 2019

It has been a terrible night for the Conservatives on Folkestone and Hythe District Council, who have lost control of the authority.

The party's number of seats has been cut from 23 to 13, with Labour and the Greens both securing six seats.

The overall results are 13 Conservative, 6 Labour, 2 Liberal Democrats, 6 Green, 2 Ukip and 1 Independent.

Cllr David Monk said: "The result we got tonight was better than I thought it was going to be because the mood of the voters out there, they're very, very angry and frustrated with Westminster.

"We expected a protest vote and we've seen a protest vote."
