Emergency crews were called to the coast-bound carriageway just after junction 11a for the Channel Tunnel at around 10pm last night following the smash involving a grey BMW and a grey Peugeot 206.
The BMW swerved off the road and ended up on its roof at the side of the carriageway.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman from London, died at the scene.
Two 25-year-old men, one from Gillingham and one from Chatham, have been arrested and bailed until Thursday, March 23 next year.
The M20 was closed for several hours, causing issues for motorists attempting to reach the Port of Dover or Eurotunnel terminal.
It had reopened by 8am.
