Police say a driver involved in a crash on the M20 this morning fled, leaving a family at the scene.
The hit-and-run happened at around 4.40am on the coastbound stretch of the motorway at Junction 11a.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident, which initially closed three lanes of the motorway. They have since reopened.
Kent Police said the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene leaving a family - including a young child - behind.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.24am on Saturday 15 October following a collision involving a black BMW 520D and a silver Hyundai I40 on the M20 coastbound near Junction 11A.
"The driver of the Hyundai is reported to have left the scene by foot. Officers carried out a search of the area with dogs but the driver was not located.
"A man and woman in the BMW suffered injuries not believed to be serious. A child who was with them was uninjured."
Earlier, police revealed another vehicle had been found abandoned on another stretch of motorway in a separate incident.
The car was found between junctions 6 and 5 of the M2 just after 3am.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 2.04am to a report of an abandoned car on the grass verge, on the M2 London-bound near Junction 5.
"Officers attended and carried out a search of the local area with dogs but nobody was located."
