A man has been charged after a woman’s campervan was set alight while she slept inside.
Police were called to Folkestone after a large number of vehicles were sent up in flames in Canterbury Road, Walton Road, Military Road and Enbrook Valley, Hythe, in the early hours of April 11.
It was later reported that the owner of a campervan had been sleeping inside her vehicle in Sandgate and woke to find it alight.
Michael Harragan, 54, of Gladstone Road, Folkestone, was arrested and charged with arson with intent to endanger life, arson concerning six vehicles, drink driving, and assault of an emergency worker.
He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 April.
When officers received a further report that the campervan was set alight on April 11, a further charge of arson with intent to endanger life was authorised against Mr Harragan.
He attended the same court on 14 April in relation to this charge and was remanded.
The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 12 May.
