A 31-year-old man has been caught attempting to walk through the Channel Tunnel.
A spokesman for Eurotunnel confirmed: "A person was detected inside the Channel Tunnel and taken into custody by the French Authorities.
"As there is now a criminal procedure in place we are unable to comment further at this time."
He was seen entering the tunnel a week ago and police teams on both sides were alerted.
French officials found and arrested him on December 21and he appeared in court in Boulogne-sur-Mar last Wednesday.
It is thought the incident cost Eurotunnel around £45,000 in lost revenue as trains had to stop for the search to be conducted.
He is due in court on February 1.
