A man in his forties has been found dead after a flat fire.
Emergency services were called to the blaze in Folkestone just after midnight last night where they made the tragic discovery.
Fire services tackled the blaze in Castle Hill Avenue after being called at around 12.40am.
Three fire engines and a height vehicle were called alongside police and paramedics.
Crews battled the flames for almost three hours, using a hose reel jet and water from a hydrant to extinguish them.
Tragically, the victim was found dead in the flat on arrival.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called shortly before 1.30am on today to assist Kent Fire and Rescue Service at the scene of a fire at a residential address in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone.
"Officers attended and a man in his forties was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
