A LETTER bomb injured a man when it exploded as he opened his post, Kent Police have revealed.
The 53-year-old victim, who lives in the Folkestone area, was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital after the incident at a private address.
The man, who has not been named, has since been discharged. Detectives are now trying to discover who sent the device and why.
It was the first of four letter bombs to be sent around the country in as many days.
The other three went to motoring-related company addresses. The Kent incident happened on Saturday.
The central London offices of Capita received explosive post on Monday. It deals with the London congestion charge system.
An accountancy firm in Wokingham, Berkshire, linked to speed checks was targeted on Tuesday and a woman is in a stable condition after a blast at the main DVLA centre in Swansea today.
Officers from Kent are working together with Thames Valley Police colleagues to establish if there is a connection between the cases.
Police spokeman Jon Parker said: “Detectives are making inquiries. They are examining any similarities with other incidents, but at this stage, we cannot say if any of them are linked.”
