Folkestone Harbour Company (FHC)'s plans to build 1,000 seafront homes go on public display today.
The proposed building designs will be revealed in a series of sessions at the harbour.
It comes after planning chiefs approved plans to increase some plots by a couple of storeys, while others will rise from 20.5 to 29.5 metres. Buildings on South Quay, next to the harbour will potential tower 12-storeys high at 41 metres.
“This display will show designs for the first phase of the development, including proposals for a new public square close to the base of the Leas Lift,” explained FHC spokesman Peter Bettley.
“Images included in the outline planning application showed concepts and maximum dimensions of buildings but did not indicate proposed design.
“Therefore this will be the first opportunity people will have to view these proposals.”
The exhibition will take place at Customs House on Folkestone harbour from today until Saturday.
In 2015 FHC was granted outline planning permission for a mixed use development, including new homes, cafés and restaurants.
It created a masterplan for the seafront that sets out location, size and uses of buildings but not a vision of how the buildings would look.
This year a series of amendments to the masterplan were also approved, where the height of seven plots were proposed to increase.
A FHC spokesman explained: “We are now ready to share our detailed plans for the first phase of development and will shortly be submitting what is known as a reserved matters application for the site.
“This application will focus on the detailed elements of the design, landscape and materials.
“It will not change the building sizes and heights, which have already been agreed.”
Under the latest agreement the height of seven plots are proposed to increase.
But Plot H will reduce by 15m back to 20m and beach sports facilities will be built in phase five of the development but scattered within the estate rather than in one building.
FHC has also pledged to give funds to the existing Folkestone Sea Sports company on the Stade as part of an agreement worth £3.5 million.
The company intends to add to the public amenities each year as the development progresses, Mr Bettley said.
The sessions take place at Customs House from 4.40pm to 7.30pm on tonight and tomorrow and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
