A police officer was injured searching for a distressed man.

Police were called just after midday yesterday after a man was "in a distressed state" in Sandgate Road in Folkestone.

The man was found three hours later near Dolphin Road and passed on to paramedics.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "During the incident an officer took a fall and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where her injuries are not described as serious."
