A man says he is struggling to sleep since his beloved French Bulldog went missing.

A huge appeal has been launched to help reunite Jacob Burnett from Folkestone, with dog Teddy, who disappeared nearly five weeks ago on October 30.

Teddy, who is fawn in colour with a small white patch between his eyes, had been on a dog walk with Mr Burnett's ex partner at around 4.30pm when he ran off chasing a fox near Varne Ridge Holiday Park, off Old Dover Road in Capel Le Ferne.

Their other dog, Olive, returned but Teddy never came back when called.

Since then, searches have been carried out in the area, including looking down fox and rabbit holes.

Posters have been put up around Capel and in Folkestone, and a Facebook page, Finding Teddy, has been set up and now has 1,700 members.

Mr Burnett, 52, fears someone might have found five year old Teddy and taken him.

He said: "He likes to chase foxes. We reckon he ran off and maybe someone picked him up.

"He knows that area very well and would have made his way home himself.

"My ex partner - we share custody - left her caravan door open all night but he didn't come back.

"We don't think he would have fit down a hole, they would be too small for him.

"But we searched the area, and most of Folkestone. We've put up posters too. Although the council has taken some down."

Mr Burnett, of Wear Bay Road, Folkestone, says he has been left heartbroken since Teddy disappeared.

"I just want him back," he said. "I miss him so badly. I can't sleep at night and I'm having to take sleeping pills.

"I'm just very worried. It's been so stressful, he is part of the family."

Teddy was wearing a red collar when he went missing and he has been micro-chipped.

Mr Burnett has already received many messages and calls about possible sightings, but none have so far turned out to be Teddy.

He says there are three things that distinguish Teddy from other French Bulldogs - his white crusty nose, his droppy bottom lip and that he has been neutered.

A reward of £2,000 is being offered for his return.

Alison Allen, who is helping with the online appeal, added: "We have been on an extensive social media campaign posting in as many places and groups as possible.

"Teddy has his own Finding Teddy Facebook group with over 1,700 followers.

"Posters are being displayed everywhere -shops, takeaways, cars and house windows.

"We also are door knocking too as its surprising how many people are not on social media.

"We all just want Teddy home before Christmas."
