Proposed parking restrictions that could stop motorists parking across the entrance to a derelict pub are set to go out to consultation.
Cllr Peter Gane (Con), who represents the Cheriton ward in Folkestone, said that no formal planning permission had been given to build homes on the Cherry Pickers plot in Ashley Avenue.
It is allocated for residential development of 10 houses or 20 flats in the Places and Policies Local Plan (PPLP) headed by Shepway District Council.
The overarching plan, which earmarks areas across the district for redevelopment, has been subject to consultation but is yet to be formally approved.
Speaking at the last Joint Transportation Board meeting, Cllr Gane said: “It hasn’t been allocated for housing yet, a developer has put in an application.
“He put in for a large number of houses that people objected to and now he has reduced the number.”
In October the landowner submitted a planning application for 10 homes, nine of which will be four-bedroom and one two-bedroom, along with three one-bedroom flats, with parking.
The plans, which have received a mixed reaction from residents, have not yet been given the green light.
Permission has been granted for the site to be demolished and it is the developer who is hoping to have double yellow lines put down at the entrance to the pub site.
If the restrictions are imposed, parking will be reduced from eight gaps to four, it is understood.
Cllr Gane said: “I have offered to host a meeting with the developer and residents but I haven’t had anything back.
“The PPLP hasn’t even come back to the scrutiny committee.”
The Cherry Pickers is one of 13 sites in Folkestone, Hythe, Seabrook and Romney Marsh to go out to consultation to gain residents’ views, before any plans are implemented.
