Two men suffered cuts to their faces and heads after they were set upon by around six women in Folkestone.
They were attacked in Marine Parade after the group of women asked them if they had a lighter.
One of the men, a 20-year-old from Deal, told police he was hit with an object which caused cuts to his face and damage to his eye. He needed stitches at William Harvey Hospital.
The second victim, also 20 and from Deal, suffered a cut to his head and another to his face.
Police are treating the incident as grievous bodily harm and are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened on Saturday, December 14.
The two men were walking along Marine Parade at 1am when a group of around six women approached them. They first asked the men if they had a lighter then attacked them, reportedly unprovoked.
The victims described two of their attackers as being white, aged 16 to 20, and around 5ft tall.
One was wearing a dark coloured Adidas beanie-style hat, and was possibly drunk. The other woman had dark brown hair and was wearing thick black-framed glasses.
PC Bethany Ghost said: “At present, we only have limited descriptions of the offenders but with the numbers of people out in Folkestone on a Friday night just before Christmas, we are hopeful that someone will have seen something or know the group of women.”
