Father Christmas will be making a return to the streets of Folkestone after last year's traditional charity collection was scuppered by the pandemic.

Santa will be touring the town alongside helpers from the Rotary Club of Folkestone on eight nights in December, helping to raise much-needed funds for local good causes.

Rotary spokesman Ray Johnson said: "The club organises this annual event where members and local volunteers collect money from the public by going round residential areas with Father Christmas on a float.

"All monies collected are then used to purchase large quantities of food that is separated into bags and delivered to the needy within the local area. These may also include toys for local children.

"As in previous years the Folkestone Rotary Club will also be supporting a number of charities within the area for Christmas events, particularly for the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged."
