A 27-year-old primary school caretaker accused of a letter bomb campaign, including a device sent to an address in Kent, has denied 11 charges against him.

Miles Cooper, of Cambridge, is accused of offences under the Explosive Substances Act and the Offences Against the Person Act.

He appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody until a date for his trial is fixed.

One of the charges relates to a letter bomb sent to Mike Wingfield, of Craufurd Green, Folkestone, who suffered cuts to his stomach and fingers after opening a jiffy bag sent to his home in February.

It was addressed to the senior manager of a now defunct security firm Mr Wingfield once ran from that address.

Altogether, nine people were hurt by devices in London, Swansea, the West Midlands, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire as well as Kent.
