Schoolchildren have finally moved into their long-awaited, new modern classrooms in Folkestone.
Work to build Turner Free School started in 2019 and phase one of the construction is now complete.
The finished building boasts state-of-the-art engineering and technology facilities, new sporting facilities and a dedicated dining space to allow for 'family dining' for staff and pupils.
The three-storey build also offers a lecture theatre to allow all pupils to learn in a ‘university style’ for some of their time at school.
New photos of the secondary school show how closely it resembles the artist impressions that were released two years ago.
The Turner Free School opened in temporary accommodation in 2018 and replaced the former Pent Valley Technology College site in Tile Kiln Lane.
As part of the plans, the old run-down buildings which made up the old school have been torn down.
Turner Free School initially opened with 120 Year 7 pupils, but now educates 480 children.
When at full capacity, the new building will allow the school to welcome 1,260 pupils.
It is run by the Turner Schools Trust, which also runs Folkestone Academy, Folkestone Primary, Martello Primary and Morehall Primary.
Planning permission for the project was granted in 2019.
Further works will see the sports hall and car park improved, which expected to be completed by September.
Kristina Yates, principal at Turner Free School, said: "We are all so happy with the new building and so excited to move into our permanent home.
"Our pupils have been so patient in waiting for this day and they are really enjoying the exciting opportunities that the new facilities are able to provide.
"The pupils have been brilliant during their time in the temporary accommodation, and while learning from home, but nothing will replace spending time in the classroom with their fantastic facilities.
"Our young people deserve the best education possible, and the new building will be integral to making that a reality."
Seamus Murphy, CEO of Turner Schools trust, added: "Everyone at Turner Free School is understandably excited for the new building and I am delighted that they will now get to move into it.
"The facilities are truly first-rate and will be so important for our young people in developing their learning.
"Kristina and her team have been wonderful throughout their time in the temporary building and I have every faith in their ability to take their teaching to the next level now that they have moved into their fantastic new home."
