A woman has been cut free from the wreckage of her car after a serious crash in Hythe this morning.
The air ambulance, fire crews, paramedics and police were called to the accident in Sandling Road at around 8.25am.
It involved a grey Toyota Aygo and a silver Mercedes Sprinter.
A woman and her dog were freed from the car by fire crews using hydraulic rescue equipment and handed over to the air ambulance crews and a vet.
The woman, who is in her 50s and from the local area, was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
The dog was given oxygen therapy.
The road was closed until around 2.15pm but has now reopened.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 8.25am to a report of a collision between two vehicles on Sandling Road in Hythe.
"One driver is reported to have suffered injuries and emergency services remain at the scene.
"The road is currently closed at the junction with the A20."
The collision caused delays in the area and replacement buses to and from Sandling train station were affected, with buses stopping on the A20.
Police have since launched an appeal for witnesses.
