A football club has hit a supporter with a three-year ban following a friendly match and reported allegations of anti-social behaviour to the police.
Folkestone Invicta FC announced today it takes a “zero-tolerance” approach to aggression and discrimination at its Alcaline Stadium off Cheriton Road.
Condemning the reported anti-social behaviour, club bosses said an incident unfolded during a friendly home match against the Gillingham B team, but did not elaborate further.
The club confirmed “the incident” is now subject to a police investigation and the three-year ban will take effect immediately.
An Invicta spokesman said: “The club would like to stress that there is a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of abusive, aggressive and discriminatory behaviour at the Alcaline Stadium.
“If you are subject to, or witness any, harassment, abuse or discrimination on a match day, please report this to your nearest club steward.”
The club says “robust measures” are being put in place to ensure similar matters do not happen again.
They added: “Folkestone Invicta would like to reiterate that minors under the age of twelve must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.”
Kent Police has been contacted for comment.
