Folkestone man charged after police car set alight

A man has been charged after a police car was set on fire in Kent.

While officers were attending a medical incident in Canterbury Road, Folkestone, their car was set ablaze.

Significant damage was done to the rear of the vehicle, which written off by the attack in the early hours of Saturday, March 21.

Thankfully no one was injured, but an investigation was launched the same day.

Barry Plaister, of Downs Road, Folkestone, was later arrested and charged with arson.

It is also alleged that Plaister said that he would fire bomb a police station, leading to him also being charged with making threats to damage property.

The 44-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court today, and was remanded in custody.

He will appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday June 1.
