Cash worth thousands of pounds was found stashed in a washing machine.

The large sum was found at a Folkestone home by police carrying out a search warrant.

During the search of the house, in Ilex Road, officers also found crystal ware, jewellery and a Rolex watch.

The warrant was carried out in connection with an ongoing investigation into money laundering by detectives from the Economic Crime Unit.

All the items were seized and suspected to be linked to criminal activity.

A 22-year-old woman from the town was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released, pending further inquiries.
