Thieves smashed through patio doors before raiding a home and fleeing with money and gold.
During the raid, intruders trashed the house in St Nicholas Road, between St Mary's Bay and Littlestone between 4.45pm and 8.15pm on Friday.
DC Rob Goodban warned people to be vigilant as the long nights draw in.
"Intruders broke in through a patio door and carried out an untidy search of the bedrooms, taking cash and a quantity of gold jewellery including necklaces and rings," he said.
"At this time of year when the nights are drawing in we urge everyone to be vigilant against burglars in their communities and to report any suspicious behaviour.
‘But residents should remember that burglars target homes during daylight hours, too.
"So if you see something and it doesn’t seem right, report it by phoning 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress."
The force said boxes containing the rings have been recovered from the nearby beach but didn't specify how much money was taken.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/11160/18.
Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.
Operation Castle, the force’s annual burglary prevention campaign, was launched at the end of October to raise awareness about home security and encourage the public to take extra measures.
