Three men have been arrested after a group of people were seen changing a number plate on a car.
Police received a report on Tuesday, August 22 that the plate was changed in Folkestone, with a group then driving away.
A discarded plate was then found by officers.
Following inquiries, they were able to link it to a vehicle believed to be present during an attempted theft of power tools at a store in Park Farm earlier that day.
Later that day, the vehicle was stopped by a patrol in the Dartford area.
The car was then searched and police seized a large amount of alcohol, suspected to be linked to a theft from a supermarket in Whitstable on the same day.
Three men from London, aged 21, 22, and 23, were arrested on suspicion of theft and fraud. They have been released on bail until November 15 pending further investigation.
District Commander for Folkestone and Hythe, Chief Insp Mark Hedges said: “This was a great result with officers working together having received a call about suspicious activity in Folkestone. We are grateful to people who report when they see something they don’t believe is right. By the community helping to be our eyes and ears, we can work towards keeping Folkestone safe.”
