A man viciously attacked two women with a claw hammer leaving them nursing fractured skulls.
The attack was caught on CCTV and was expected to be played to a jury at Canterbury Crown Court today.
Anthony Bird, 39, of Harbour Way in Folkestone had pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Georgia Leizert and Demi Phodi on February 13 in Dover Road.
But just minutes before the case continued defence lawyer Niall Doherty asked for the charge to be put again to Bird and he changed his pleas to guilty.
Prosecutor Peter Forbes told the jury that the separate attacks were on the women aged 18 and 19 who were left with fractured skulls.
Judge Catherine Brown said they were vicious attacks and Bird should expect to spend " a long time in prison."
She adjourned for five weeks for the probation service to assess what danger he poses to the public in future.
She told Bird: "You have very belatedly pleaded guilty to these offences.
"These are very serious offences and on the face of it you seem to pose a danger but I will need that to be assessed but you will be spending a long time in prison."
