The ten best areas in the county to live have been named in Muddy Stilettos’ annual list with one seaside town dubbed “Ibiza meets the Kent coast”.
The lifestyle magazine crowned Folkestone the jewel in Kent’s crown with its trendy food outlets, links to London and schools.
Muddy Stiletto said: “This seaside town is getting a reputation for its artistic heart – from the Triennial, a regenerative art festival that takes place every three years, to the Book Festival.
“Then you’ve also got The Creative Quarter, which was part of the city’s regeneration project and is now the wonderfully colourful home to an eclectic mix of artist studios and creative businesses.
“And it’s on the foodie map.
“What more reason do you need?”
Restaurant Little Rock was hailed as “Ibiza meets the Kent coast” thanks to it’s palm trees and sea views.
Folkestone’s “best-kept secret” was named as The Potting Shed, a speakeasy hidden within a furniture shop.
Coming in behind the seaside town was the “lovely rural village” Speldhurst near Tunbridge Wells.
Its proximity to the town but the opportunity for “country-living escapism” makes it the “best of both worlds”, Muddy Stilettos reports.
They added: “There’s a really special community feel to Speldhurst and they do that quintessential quirky village thing very well.”
Also on the list is Ickham near Canterbury, Tankerton in Whitstable, Westerham, Cranbrook, Faversham, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Tenterden.
Areas were judged on food offerings, shopping, nearby attractions, average house prices, nurseries, schools and commuting.
