A train was damaged when yobs hurled rocks when it had stopped at a station in Folkestone.

Police are now investigating the incident last Saturday night in which a group of men were said to be throwing stones at the stationary Southeastern at Folkestone West.

British Transport Police (BTP) received a report at 12.25am on Sunday, but said no arrests have been made.

One witness said how children on board the busy Charing Cross to Dover Priory service had been upset as a result of the incident in which a window was smashed.

It is understood the stones only damaged the outer layer of the window's two protective panels.

No injuries to passengers or staff were reported though.

A spokesman for BTP said: "We received a report at 12.25am on Sunday, 26 July, of a group of men throwing stones at a train at Folkestone West station.

“A train window was damaged in the incident.

“No arrests have been made, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
