A Eurotunnel train which stopped in the Channel Tunnel is causing major delays stretching onto the M20.

Freight services are delayed by up to one-and-a-half hours due to the interruption, and non-freight passengers are also facing a wait time of up to 30 minutes.

Large queues are forming on the M20 junction 11A off-ramp towards the Eurotunnel terminal.

A spokesman for the service said: "There was a technical problem with the train earlier, but normal service has been resumed.

"It was a freight train which was stuck in the tunnel for an hour, but service is back to normal.

"Delays are being caused by the higher-than-normal freight traffic which is expected on Tuesdays."

Passenger journeys have been set back 30 minutes, however this backlog is anticipated to be cleared by 3.30pm.

Earlier, freight was expected to wait an extra two hours for their crossing, however this estimate is gradually decreasing.
