Two men have been charged after a teenager was stabbed in the leg during a daylight assault.

Emergency services sealed off the area near a busy Folkestone supermarket following the attack on Tuesday.

Police and ambulance services were called to Cheriton Road , near the Co-op, at around 11.55am.

Horrified onlookers reported that the victim, a 19-year-old man, came into the shop pleading for help.

Eyewitness Jonathan Poole said: "I was shopping when a guy came in screaming for help after he was stabbed presumably outside .

"It was at the Folkestone Central Co-Op and police and ambulance were quickly in attendance."

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital by ambulance and has since been discharged.

Two men were arrested later the same day and have now been charged.

Jed Coates, 31, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Matthew Sales, 21, also of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Sales is also facing an additional charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one of possession of an offensive weapon, relating to a separate incident on Sunday.

Both men are due to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court via videolink today.

A 25-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to the incident has been released under investigation.
