Two men have been killed in a horror crash in Dover.
Police are investigating after the collision between a van and a car in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services descended on Folkestone Road at around 5.10am after a grey BMW 120d and a white Ford transit van collided head-on.
Police closed the road while fire services and paramedics attended to the vehicles.
Eyewitnesses also saw the air ambulance at the scene.
It is understood that the BMW had been travelling towards Dover at the time, with the van travelling in the opposite direction, near to the junction with Rugby Road.
The drivers of both vehicles, both men in their 30s, suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene.
A passenger in the van, a man in his 20s, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
Resident Gary Walmsley told KentOnline: "My wife was woken up by the noise of the helicopter above.
"The emergency services left the scene at 3pm.
"I saw the van and BMW being taken away on the backs of lorries. The BMW was particularly badly wrecked."
"We've lived in this area for two years and never come across anything like this"
Neighbour Sean Wells said: "My wife was woken up by the sirens and afterwards there was no traffic outside until 3pm.
"We've lived in this area for two years and never come across anything like this.
"It is terrible but also strange because it is a very wide road and it was at a time in the morning with no traffic."
As of 3.30pm, the road remains closed more than 10 hours after the collision took place.
