KENT MP Michael Howard experienced the effects of crime first hand after his wife Sandra’s car was wrecked by vandals.

The vehicle had been left at Westenhanger train station, near Folkestone Racecourse, and the damage was discovered when the Tory leader's wife returned from a weekend conference in Brighton on Sunday.

The 17-year-old Panda 4x4 has been damaged beyond repair. Vandals broke every window, slashed the tyres, smashed the driver’s door in, ripped out wiring, jumped all over the vehicle and stuffed a traffic cone through the rear window.

British Transport Police are investigating the incident, with assistance from South East Kent Police.
