Kent Police looking for witnesses after woman has handbag stolen in Harbour Way, Folkestone

A woman was attacked and had her handbag stolen by a man who had asked her for a light.

The incident in Harbour Way, Folkestone, happened shortly after midnight on Sunday, August 30.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and have just released the details.

A 54-year-old woman was reportedly walking along Harbour Way close to the junction with St Michael's Street when a man approached her and asked for a light.

When she went to find one the man allegedly pushed the woman and stole her handbag.

The victim reported he ran off along St Michael's Street.

Police issued a description of the suspect as described by the victim as a dark skinned European man aged between 25 and 35-years-old.

He is also said to be 5ft 4ins tall with black wavy shoulder length hair. He was wearing a fleece and spoke with a foreign accent.
