Basketball tourney lined up for disabled

VALLEY Leisure Centre at Folkestone is to host a South East Kent Special Olympics basketball tournament on Sunday, March 25.

The aim is to provide an opportunity for athletes with learning disabilities to compete in a tournament at their own level.

The centre at Pent Valley already encourages the sport for athletes of all disabilities.

This tournament will be split into three levels with an elete level for those capable of playing to general rules; an intermediate level for those who can play to a certain level at a moderate pace and a novice level for thise requiring time and space.

Teams can of five to eight members. Also planned are individual events banded to ability level.

Entrance is free and registration starts at 10.30am staring at about 11am.

Anyone wanting to take part or enter a team should contact organiser Nigel Brownsword by March 10 for an information pack.
