Rhodes Minnis Grasstrack circuit near Folkestone, unused since 2005, will stage the British Masters Championship Finals on Sunday.

The championship, hosted by the local Astra Grasstrack Club, will consist of 24 solo and 18 sidecar teams battling it out over 30 races to find this year’s domestic champions.

New Romney’s Vince Kinchen will start among the favourites for the solo event alongside defending champion and Premier League speedway rider Glen Phillips, current British under-21 champion Jamie Rodgers and former World under-21 speedway champion Joe Screen.

In the sidecar event, the main title challenges are expected to come from defending champions Colin Blackburn and Paul Whitelam Jnr, Rob Wilson and Terry Saunters and Myles Simmons and Kevin Woodley.

The activities begin at 11am with official practice before the presentation of the riders at 12.45pm for a 1pm start. Kids will receive a free drink and union flag hand on admission.

Free camping is also available from Thursday onwards and the large marquee will be open on Saturday night for live coverage of the Swedish Speedway Grand Prix, followed by live music from Learning Curve.

Other weekend facilities include a licensed bar, food village and trade stands.
